Complete medical care is provided by a recently remodeled 52-bed hospital with a 24-hour Emergency Room serviced by county ambulances and trained EMT's. The hospital is staffed by several doctors with connecting medical offices for patient convenience. Other medical services in the area include a complete Drug and Alcohol Rehabilitation program, modern nursing home, and a bone and joint clinic. "Lifeflight," a helicopter ambulance service. transports critically injured or ill patients to Nashville's major hospitals within 30 minutes.

Also, Hohenwald and Lewis Countians are very proud of their National Guard Unit, a medical detachment based out of a newly constructed 23,000 sq ft facility located on a 15-acre site near the county airport. The unit consists of over 75 part-time medical personnel.

Hohenwald is proud of its location on the Western Highland Rim, almost I,000 feet above sea level. It is the only town in 500,000 contiguous square miles that has this distinction.
    
Agriculture benefits from the mild weather and the fertile soils typical of the Western Highlands Rim, which support a variety of row crops. Corn, hay, pasture grasses, potatoes, vetch, small grain and tobacco are the most common crops. This region is also well suited to raising beef and dairy cattle, hogs and show horses. There are several Tennessee Walking Horse stables in the area.
